Hello everyone,

It’s been really lovely to spend time working with the children this week. It’s always nice to have the chance to work with different classes, and they have worked incredibly hard. I’m sure you’ll agree that this half term has absolutely flown by! I can’t quite believe the next one is even shorter. The children have packed so much into this term already and there’s still lots to look forward to.

A big thank you to everyone who was able to come along to our open afternoon. The children were so proud to share their work with you – and quite rightly so!

In English, we’ve been diving into our class book, The Thames and Tide Club. The children have been using their imaginations brilliantly to create persuasive adverts, thinking carefully about how to grab the reader’s attention and encourage people to visit. They’ve also been designing and describing their own underwater cities inspired by the story. I’ve been so impressed with their creativity and the vocabulary they’ve used to bring their ideas to life.

In Maths, the children have been working hard on fractions. We’ve been focusing on recognising a whole and understanding how fractions relate to it. They’ve also been placing fractions on number lines, building their confidence in seeing how fractions fit between whole numbers. It’s been great to see their understanding develop throughout the week.

We also had a visit from Hello Vets, who spoke to the children about what it’s like to work as a vet. They learned about the different roles within the profession and asked some fantastic questions – we may well have a few future vets in Year 3!

And of course, we ended the week with the school disco! The bubble machine was definitely a highlight, along with some very enthusiastic dancing.

I hope you all have a lovely, restful and safe February half term. Enjoy the break and I’ll see you all back, ready for another busy (and slightly shorter!) half term.
