Hello all!
Yet another great week had by all in year 3, the children are really
settling into their new routine.
This week:
Maths - we have been exploring numbers, number bonds and
patterns within addition and subtraction.
English – we have been reading and retelling fables. The
children are now able to identify what makes a fable and can understand and
identify morals within those stories.
Science – as some of you may have noticed we have had a
visitor in this week, our very own class skeleton! The children were absolutely
fascinated by this and we really enjoyed learning about the human skeleton.
They are able to identify different bones and discuss their purpose as well as
knowing other facts about the human skeleton.
ICT – during ICT we were getting used to logging onto a
laptop and typing on the programme Word. The children really enjoyed this. If
you have a laptop/PC at home, if you could allow your child to go onto Word (or
related programme) to improve fluency of typing and navigating the programme
this would help with children’s progression within ICT.
Art- the children had a fascinating discussion around the
question what is art? We then went onto designing our firework posters which
we will be creating next week.
Geography – the children were exploring the continents of the
world and identifying.
R.E – this week within R.E the children explored and
discussed what religion is and what it is to them. We then produced a mind map after
this discussion. We will be going onto exploring Islam and Christianity.
PSHE – Within PSHE we were getting to know each other and
the children also meditated during their session.
MFL – For our first Spanish lesson we had an introduction to
Spain. We located Spain on a map, learnt some facts about Spain as well as
listening to Spanish music. The children can now say hello and their name in Spanish.
Next week’s focus
English – Fables. A continuation of fables and creating our
own fable.
Maths – Compare and order 2- and 3- digit numbers; count on
and back in 10s and 1s; add and subtract 2-digit numbers; solve problems using
place value.
