Week ending 18th October 2024
Hello Year Three,
We had fabulous results with spellings and tables this week. It is clear that most children have been practising at home regularly.
We are coming to the end of our fables project as the children finally write their own.
We continue with addition and subtraction for maths.
This week in our geography lesson the children had to design an earthquake proof house. It gave them a lot to think about.
For science the children continued to work on nutrition and I was very pleased to see two of the girls looking at the nutritional value in their packets of crisps!
The children have all designed their pencil cases and this week they began to make them. They used the stitches they have been taught and on the whole they were fairly neat.
For Spanish the children learned to ask the age of someone and reply giving their age. Their conversation is increasing week by week and hopefully we will share some of this in our class assembly.
NEXT WEEK
English
We will be completing our fables and each child will be given the opportunity to read theirs to the class.
We will be working on recognising and using adverbs. This will be followed by writing a short paragraph which must include a variety of adverbs.

Maths
Next week we will continue to work on addition and subtraction up to hundreds. It is so much easier for the children if they have rapid recall of their number bonds to twenty. If not please work on them to ten. It helps them so much.
Science
It is the final week on 'Living Things Including Humans.' We will be exploring the muscles in the human body.
D and T
We will continue with making pencil cases. The children will have the more challenging task of adding a button and button hole!
Geography
As we have been investigating volcanoes we will be taking a short field trip around the school grounds to find a variety of rocks and stones. The children will be given different types of rock to examine and learn about.
PGL
If your child is going on the trip with us in April the deposit is due in. Please go to the office for payment details.
Parent's Meetings
I am looking forward to seeing you all on either Tuesday morning or Wednesday evening.
Have a great weekend.
