Week beginning Monday 15th June

This week in Year 3

World Cup fever is spreading, we have managed to fit in the study flags (vexillology), word searches and cross word puzzles all related to the countries competing in the World Cup. The children can test their parents and carers on the colour of flags, football kits and scores.

National water safety was celebrated this week with the children swimming in shorts and t-shirts and learning how to get out of the water safely whilst wearing wet clothes.

Sports day 2026 was a hit, no injuries and we all had fun. It was really nice for the children to be mixed with the older children when competing. They were encouraged and helped out all afternoon.

I attach an example of our maths lesson today, as the children were keen to explore making 3d shapes, can you can pick out the incentives? 😊

LO. To be able to describe and make 3d shapes

We made the 3d shapes using mini marshmallows and spaghetti.

Key Vocabulary cube, cuboid, prism, triangular based prism, square based prism, edges, vertices.

Also please look out for the TT Rockstars competition starting next Tuesday 23rd June and running until Thursday 25th June children are encouraged to play for 30 minutes a day. Try hard to get the maximum amount of answers correct - remember to click on and practice all of the X's tables.

The multiplication test on Friday 26th June will be on the x7 and x8 and the new spelling word list as follows.

Have a great weekend.
