Week ending 4th October 2024
Hello Year Three,
We all enjoyed today's Harvest Festival! The children always enjoy the songs and they sang beautifully. It was good to see so many parents, carers and friends too.
This week the children have completed the maths block on place value and we are now learning addition and subtraction to 1,000.
We have heard many fables now and are picking up the morals more easily. This week we heard the story of 'The Boy who cried Wolf.' The children dressed up in masks and created role plays of the story.
In science we are continuing to learn about the nutrients in our food. We learned that animals need different foods because their bodies require different nutrients.
For geography we drew a volcano and labelled it after watching a video of one erupting. We investigated the countries that have volcanoes and how to describe whether one is active or dormant.
We continue to build on our communication in Spanish. It would be great if the children could speak to you in Spanish.
On Wednesday we began learning to sew. The children learned different stitches. They will design their pencil cases next week and choose which stitch they would like to use.
Six children went on a golf tournament today. They had a brilliant time and Little Heath came second!
NEXT WEEK
English
We will continue to focus on the story 'The Boy who cried Wolf.' The children will write a recount of the story and carry out a comprehension. They will describe the characters in the story. We will also be reading 'George's Marvellous Medicine' and a comprehension task will be set following that. The children will also be working on using correct punctuation.

I wish you a relaxing and happy weekend.

Toys for wet play
We do have a toy box in the classroom for wet playtimes, but many of the games and jigsaws have pieces missing now. If you have any puzzles or games at home that you no longer require we would gratefully take them off your hands. Just send any that you feel are suitable for Year Three in to school with your child.
Thank you.
