Summer Term 2 Week 1
Welcome back
I hope everyone had a restful break with their families
before the final half term of Year 3!
In the English lessons this week we have we have continued
to work with the text, Jim, a cautionary
tale by Hilaire Belloc. This is a children’s dark comedy with a cautionary
message. The children have even learnt and recited parts of the poem for a
class performance.
They are now enjoying thinking, discussing and writing about alternative endings to the story, involving different animals and a different grizzly end. As the children are enthused with this story and their new ideas, we are starting to create a giant class storyboard for display.
In Maths we have completed the section on Time, including;
telling the time, using analogue and digital clocks, duration of time and
using calendars. When you think of it please question the children on, what
time is it? How many minutes past the hour or to the next hour?
Please remember to bring in PE kits (short white sports
socks, navy shorts and a white T-shirt). PE lessons for this half term will be
on Monday and Friday. Swimming at Furzfield continues every Wednesday.
For next Friday’s short test please continue practicing the 6
and 7 X’s tables. I am really pleased with the learning of multiplication facts.
Keep it up😊
Have a lovely weekend
