Week ending 21st March 2025
Good Afternoon Year 3,
Another busy week!
We have continued to learn fractions and this week we focussed on the whole. We have continued to focus on the 2, 3 and 5 times tables. Please work with your child on these and include the 4 times table as well. We will continue to do this until the Easter holidays as they are not as sharp as they should be yet.
For English we created vivid noun phrases and have learned how to use appropriate propositions.
We experimented with a variety of rocks in our science lesson and found that most were not buoyant and that some rocks were hard, but chalk is soft. We weighed rocks before and after they were submerged in water to see how absorbent they were.
For RE we discussed 'The Big Bang Theory' and learned the order of the Christian creation story.
In Spanish we learned the names of different fruits.
We are continuing to work on the mosaics in our art lessons.
In PHSE we discussed the emergency services and how to use them when necessary.
NEXT WEEK
Please remember to bring black clothing into school in preparation for the KS2 performance. The clothes need to be in a named plastic bag.
Don't forget it is sharing assembly on Monday at 9am. You will have received a letter if your child will be taking part.
Maths
We will be comparing and ordering fractions. We will be looking at fractions on a number line. There will be a 2,3,4 and 5 times table test on Friday.
English
The children will be writing a vivid description about Mount Vesuvius erupting. They will be writing a newspaper article about this event.

Please remember that the children should be completing their home learning project soon as we are heading towards the end of term. I would like to use the last week for the children to present their menu's and describe their day choosing, preparing and cooking meals.
