Week ending 9th May 2025

 Hello Year Three,

We have enjoyed another week of fun and sunshine. We learned about WW2 and VE Day in preparation for Thursday's celebration. The children were so interested, especially in rationing and evacuation.

We had a wonderful day on Thursday as we set of flags and models for our celebration. The children loved it!

This week we have been writing the four grammatical forms of sentences as we learned and wrote about Fairtrade. The children were fascinated by this subject and have greater understanding of it from reading Cloud Tea Monkeys.

We have been learning our tables and the children know exactly which tables thy need to practise           for next week's test. When you work with the children on their tables please can you practise them in a mixed order. They have difficulty doing this so it is better to do this at home. They are great at learning a full table but find it more difficult to remember them when they are mixed.

We are exploring volume and capacity at the moment. For this area of maths it is really helpful if they know halves and quarters of 100 and 1000. It would be great if you could practise this at home with them.

We have learned about stems and shoots in our science lesson and we continue to keep diary entries for the plant experiment we have set up and the growth of our own plants.

For geography we looked at a map of Potters Bar and will be creating our own maps showing the different types of land use in our area.
