Week ending 20th June 2025

 Hello Everyone,

It has been a hot and busy week!

For maths we have been learning about time. The children have learnt AM and PM, years and months, days and hours so far.

The children are beginning to use contractions correctly now and they have written two diary entries in the first person, past tense.

For history we explored the lifestyle of Henry 8th.

Today's PHSE lesson covered the changes to the male and female body during puberty.

The children had a special treat on Wednesday as my daughter Megan came in to teach them the 'cup song.' They used cups to follow patterns of clapping and stamping which they found fascinating. A huge congratulations to Evelyn Jones who has mastered it!

Thursday was sports day! A few photos of those in my group. It was hot, but great fun!

NEXT WEEK

Maths

Our maths lessons next week will continue to be on the theme 'time.' We will be learning about hours, minutes and seconds.

English

Next week our class book has a focus on the weather. We will be writing a weather report, so the children will be using the future tense. They will be planning a fantasy story and learning to write dialogue.

D and T

We will begin our design and technology project next week. The children will be exploring hydraulics.
They will eventually be creating a monster that moves, powered by hydraulics.

Art

We have spent a few weeks preparing to create either 'The Sunflowers' or 'A starry night' by Van Gogh. Next week we will begin drawing and painting. I know the children are very excited for these lessons.

History

The children will be exploring the reasons Henry 8th divorced Catherine of Aragon and thinking about the arguments for and against the divorce.

PHSE

We will be identifying how boys and girls' bodies change on the inside during the growing up process and why these changes are necessary so that bodies can make babies.

Wishing you a happy and relaxing weekend.
Ms Davis and Mrs Saunders
