23/04/19 Introduction to Summer 1
Hello all,
I hope you have all had a
wonderful break – I’m sure all the children are raring to return to school and
continue their learning.
During Summer 1 these are some of
the topic the children are covering:
RE: Place of worship Islam, place
of worship Christianity, creation story Islam, creation story Christianity, sacred
texts- The Good Samaritan, sacred
texts – The story of Muhammed.
History: The railway revolution. To know when the industrial revolution was; the
industrial revolution and the technological changed that shaped transport; to
find out about the first steam-powered railway in Britain; to find out how the
railway changed the people of Britain’s lives since 1980; to find out about the
development of the London underground and how that impacted on the lives of
Londoners; to consider how the developments in rail have changed the lives of
the British people.
ICT: Programming and control. The children will be
programming and fixing programs. Within this they will also be learning how to
code by understanding and giving commands on a coding program. The children
will be using programs such as Scratch Jr and Scratch. If the children could
also practise at home this will aid them in their progression within ICT.
Art: Collage. The children will be exploring what is collage
and looking at different mediums of art and will be using collage to create an
image.
Science: Rocks. Types of rock; grouping rocks; fossils; Mary
Anning – contribution to palaeontology; soil formation; investigate soil
permeability.
The children will also continue their Spanish and PSHE
sessions with Mrs Iilott, their PE sessions with Mr Mills and their music
sessions with Mrs Lawrence.
