Hello all,
Another week has passed and the
summer break is in sight but there is still much learning to do.
I look forward to seeing you all
next week for the consultations. Please ensure that you have booked your
slot online . If you have any issues, please let the office know and they will be more
than happy to help.
The children and I are almost
finished out class novel of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. We have
really enjoyed reading and discussing this book. On the last few days of term (around
Monday 22nd July) I am planning to show the children the film Harry
Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone [Rated PG] as we would have (hopefully) read the entire
book. If you have any questions or wish for your child not to watch the film,
please contact me as soon as possible.
Next Tuesday afternoon (during school) Year 6 are running the Apprentice. This is an afternoon where they run food, drink, goods and game stalls in the hope to raise the most money for charity. All classes attend this event so if you could send your child in with some money to buy the products.
Next Week
PSHE - Next week we will be
discussing puberty and the changes that happen to the body during this time. It
would be helpful if you could be prepared to answer any questions from your
child relating to this topic [I will answer all questions from the children and
will give them an opportunity to ask questions anonymously]. If you have any
concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Maths –
Next week we will be telling the time. This is a very hard skill to learn and
can be a very abstract concept for children. Please complete some pre-learning with
telling the time to secure the children in the learning.
English
– The children and I have finished our adventure story, The Firework Maker’s
Daughter. We will be looking at features of an adventure story.
Geography
– The children will be designing their own settlements.
RE
– Our aim is to pupils learn about justice and fairness through the work
of development
charities
(e.g. Christian Aid, Islamic Relief, Oxfam etc.) and apply their own ideas on
matters that are important.
Art –
We will be printing a pattern with polystyrene to create our own wrapping
paper. We are also creating our art display for next year which is about
plastic in the ocean and recycling. Please could the children bring is plastic
to help build this display.
