Hello Year Three,
It is so good to be back teaching you again. We have had a
great week! The children have worked really hard and should be proud of all
they have achieved!
For our English lessons we have been reading a book called
‘Escape from Pompeii’ by Christina Balit. We have been writing character
descriptions, learning how to use prepositions and creating freeze frames to
represent the busy market town in the story.
For maths we have been learning how to work with multiples of
10 and 5. We spent Friday’s lesson learning the five and ten times tables.
Please could you work on these at home as next week the children will be tested
on both. Some children will have moved on to higher tables and they will know
which one they have to learn for next week’s test.
The children created adverts for items that keep people safe
in the sun. They had to describe their items and explain how they are
protective.
For Spanish we learned a song about counting to ten. You can
ask your child/children to sing it to you.
Our RE lesson was about advent and the children discovered the
Christian traditions. They could relate this to the advent calendars they open
each day at home.
We carried out a spelling test today and will be doing so
every Friday. There are two groups and the children have a sheet with their
spellings on in their bags. Please can you ensure your child/children practise
these at home at least three times a week. We do use the spellings for handwriting
practise every day at school but they also need to learn them at home.
