Hello all!
A great first week back after our half term break (our last
half term break in Year 3). The time has flown by and I cannot believe we are
now only a few weeks away from the summer holidays, but there is still lots of
learning to be done and I’m sure the children will continue the same enthusiasm
over the next few months.
I was disappointed when I received the mathletics/mathseeds
report, unfortunately, participation was very low. A lot of children were even
recording no time at all on their program. It is important that children
continue to use their maths programs at home as it will support their learning
in class. However, I’m sure this is just a blip and the next report will be
glowing with each child doing at least a minimum of 1 hour per week!
Art project (recycled fashion) – I’m sure the children have
told you all about their recycled fashion project. The idea is that the
children have to design and make a garment out of recycled materials. Please
donate all you can to this project even if it is materials that your child may
not use (for example, newspapers, magazines, crisp packets [washed], bottles
and lids etc.)
Note: Parent’s consultation week will take place w/c 8th
July.
Next week
Maths – In maths next week we will be learning how to solve multiplication
with written methods. (For example short multiplication).
English – The children and I are continuing to read our
adventure story, The Firework Maker’s Daughter, and working towards building
our creative writing techniques.
Science – We will be investigating soil permeability.
RE – The Story on Muhammed (pbuh)
ICT – The children will carry on coding on iPads.
Geography – Our aim in
geography is to find out about the needs of early settlers and
the origins of place names.
Manor
Lodge- Next week (Tuesday am) we will be going to Manor Lodge School to see a
production of theirs.
Next Thursday evening is the Talent Night.
