11/10/19

Good afternoon all!

I cannot believe that it is only two weeks until half term - time flys when you're having fun (and learning lots too). It was lovely to see so many of you at the Harvest Coffee morning. The children sang their songs beautifully and we have raised lots of money for Water Aid.

Parents' consultations

Please book your timeslot via the Parents Evening website. I am free to meet with you all on Monday 21st October (08:40-12:00) and on Thursday 24th October (16:00 - 19:30). If you cannot meet me during these times, please email me directly so we can arrange another time.

I have sent home a Poetry Monsters task from Young Writers. I know the children do like to take part in this and have the chance to be published in a book. I will be collecting these in on Thursday October 24th. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCAPScHF7uI

Homework
The children will have the opportunity to practice their spellings during morning work, however, if you could also support children with learning their spellings this will allow the children to really consolidate their learning.

I do expect the children to be using mathletics at home. If you do not have access to a device to access mathletics or want your child to use mathletics more then the school runs a homework club on a Wednesday. In homework club the children can use the iPads and laptops to assist and support their learning.

Please ensure the children are all reading at home still (even if they’re a free reader).

Next Week

English – We will be continuing our instruction writing. The children will found out next week they will be completing a top-secret mission for agent 007 and will be making cocktails (mocktails) and then writing a set of instructions of how to make their drink. [No spoilers to the children please].

Maths – We will be continuing using mental strategies for solving addition. Practicing additions and number bonds to 10, 20 and 100 at home will help with this.

Science – Next week in science I will set a STEM challenge for the children to solve.

RE – Discussing similarities and differences with Islam and Christianity.

Art – The children will be continuing their Stone Age art with Mrs Burgess.

D&T – The children will be making their pencil cases.

Geography – Continuing researching cities using iPads.

ICT - We will be learning how to use two hands to type.
