Week ending 31st January 2025
Hello Year Three,
This week we have been designing the sandwiches that we will make next week. We are trying to fill them with healthy options, including salad.
We have continued to work on multiplication and division in our maths lessons.
'The Tear Thief' has been a wonderful text to work from. The children have loved this story and all the learning that has come from it. This week we talked about crying. We discussed why we cry and how healthy it is to cry. The children wrote letters of explanation, explaining why we should cry. They wrote messages in the present perfect tense.
In our science lesson we looked at reflection and used mirrors to explore how light reflects. The children recognise different types of mirrors and their purpose.
The children wrote letters from Antarctica in the geography lesson. They were packed with all the information they have discovered.
We are working on programming in our computing lessons. The children are enjoying using the 'Scratch' programme.
Next Week
Maths
Next week will be the last week on the multiplication and division unit of work. They will be working on scaling. Please keep up the great work with times tables. They are all doing so well and it has helped so much with the work we have covered so far.
English
A newspaper report will be the theme of next week's English lessons. I think they will find this project very exciting and interesting as they play detective!
Science
As we are working on 'light' we will be looking at staying safe in the sun.
Geography
The children will learn how to use grid references.
RE
Next week we will be thinking about how we would lead a small group or community.
D and T
The time has come to finally make the sandwiches! Please let me know if anything has changed regarding allergies since the food tasting session that took place two weeks ago.
