Good afternoon,
Parent consultation:
I have sent the children home with the parent consultation
appointment times. Should you not receive this or be unable to make your
appointment then please email me as soon as possible. (ndavis@littleheath.herts.sch.uk)
This week:
Maths – we were
looking at the properties of 3D shapes; comparing, ordering and understanding
place value of 2- and 3-digit numbers; subtracting from 2-digit numbers.
English – we have
been looking at writing instructions. We have been identifying instruction
texts, identifying imperial verbs and looking at time conjunctions within
instructions.
Science – we were
looking at animals and their diets. This included sorting animals into
categories of carnivore, herbivore and omnivores into a Venn diagram.
Next week
Maths - Comparing, ordering and understanding place value of
2- and 3-digit numbers; subtracting from 2-digit numbers; using prediction to
estimate calculations
English – We will be continuing our instruction writing.
Within this week the children will be designing, making and writing
instructions for making cocktails.
Celebrating differences - Next
week in school we are holding a themed week around celebrating differences.
Through this we hope to raise the awareness, tolerance and acceptance levels of
the children, of the many differences that exist between people in different
ways eg. skin colour, religion, sexual orientation.
We will be covering all of these
topics through a variety of activities and stories involving all of the
children in the creation of a ‘moving art’ piece to represent celebrating differences.
This will be similar to what we did during last year’s ‘Anti-Bullying Week’ and
will be uploaded onto the website so you can all see it.
