Hello all!

I hope you had a great half term! All the pictures (and biscuits) I received were fantastic – a great effort Year 3. If you haven’t managed to bake any roman biscuits yet then there is still time to do so, forward images onto ndavis@littleheath.herts.sch.uk

We will be making pizzas on Monday in D&T. I will be providing the children with dough ingredients and tomato paste. The children have designed their pizzas so if they could bring in their ingredients in a labelled bag that would be great. Please ensure no nuts or sesame seeds are brought into class. I have checked all written on a post-it note the children’s ingredients needed for Monday.

World Book Day this Thursday – Your child is allowed to come to school dressed as a character from their favourite book.

On Monday we will be taking part in a ‘One Love Workshop’. This is to teach the children about acceptance and tolerance of others.

KS2 Performance
This year’s Key Stage 2 Performance will be a musical: Rock Bottom by Craig Hawes. This performance will include all members of Year 3, 4 and 5. Year 3 will be singing and dancing in the show. All the children and the Key Stage 2 staff members are excited to create a show for all to enjoy. The performances will take place on Wednesday 3rd April 2019 at 13:30 and Thursday 4th April at 18:30. Letters about costumes and tickets to follow.

Music and lyrics have been posted on the KS2 Production website. This can be found on www.littleheathks2production.blogspot.com

This Week

A great week back with the children who have enjoyed starting our new topics – and topped off with a pyjama day today!

Maths – In maths this week we have been looking at pictograms and scaled bar charts.

English – In English this week we have been looking at the difference between fiction and non-fiction books and identifying features of both. We have been using the index and contents pages of non-fiction books to find and record information.

Science – In science this week we were learning about the parts of a plant. We looked at the functions of the roots, stem, leaves and flower.

History – In history this week have were learn all about the Roman invasion of Britain. The children know the definition of the words invade and settle. They also know how and why the Romans invaded Britain.

ICT – In ICT this week the children were learning to use PowerPoint.

D&T – In design and technology this week we reviewed the eatwell plate and spoke about a balanced diet. The children also designed their own pizza. We will be making this pizza next week.

Next Week

Maths – Next week we will be solving multiplication and division worded problems.

English – We will be looking at features of reports, subheadings and how to research a topic of interest.

ICT – Continue learning how to use PowerPoint

D&T – We will be making pizzas on Monday. I will be providing the children with dough ingredients, tomato paste. The children have designed their pizzas so if they could bring in their ingredients in a labelled bag. Please insure no nuts or sesame seeds are brought into class.
