Hello all!
Next Friday morning you are all invited
to the governor’s breakfast morning. This will start before school at 8:00 am.
Thank you all for your donations
for Red Nose Day: Comic Relief. It is so wonderful that we are raising money
for others who are less fortunate than us and simultaneously teaching the
children this important life lesson of helping others.
This week
The children really enjoyed their
science workshop this week – a huge thank you to all the adults that helped run
the workshop and volunteered their time, the children and I were very grateful.
Maths – This week we have been
learning all about fractions. Firstly, we were identifying fractions and now we
are beginning to find fractions of amounts with using bar modelling to assist
us.
English- We used the iPads to
finish out research on our animals and have written our final report. These
look fantastic and the children have learnt a lot about their own animal.
Science – This week in science we
have been monitoring our plants to check their progress and compared the
progress of the plant to the controlled environment plant (no light or water).
We are now attempting to revive said plant. We also learnt lots about space
during our workshop and we have also engineered our own bird in our bird
challenge that the whole school has completed.
History – This week we learnt who
Boudicca was and explored the views that the Romans and the Britons held
towards her.
RE- In RE this week we were
looking at prayer in Christianity. We looked specifically at The Lord’s Prayer.
We dissected the meaning of the prayer and discussed how this is important to
Christians.
Next Week
Maths – Next week in maths the
children will continue their topic of fractions. Any home learning you can do
with fractions will assist their learning in class.
English – This week we will start
our topic on explanation texts.
Science- Investigate the way in
which water is transported within plants.
History – Boudicca’s revolt
against the Romans.
RE- Prayer in Islam.
D&T – Designing a biscuit.
This KS2 production, Rock Bottom,
is fast approaching – we will be rehearsing at this at school but if you could
allow the children to practise the songs at home, that would be a big help.
